Welcome to Resurrection Church!

A parish of the National Catholic Church

Nestled between rowhouses and one block away from busy Manhattan Avenue in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, the Church of Resurrection’s facade is more reminiscent of New England than it is of New York. Founded in 1922 by Polish expatriates and their descendents, the Church has continued to serve the community of the Polish National Catholic Church. Its mission, however, extends far beyond its Polish origins and it welcomes into its midst members of all racial and ethnic groups who seek the saving power of Jesus Christ in their lives.

We are, first and foremost, Catholic..... a sacramental church which follows the doctrines and teachings of the Apostolic church, but which separated from its Roman Catholic origins over one hundred years ago. We follow the Apostolic Succession of the Apostles along with our sister churches, the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches. This means that all three churches are separate but equal, recognizing the validity of each other’s priesthood, sacraments and the efficacy of the Holy Mass. The ‘national’ aspect of our Church, however, has less to do with a particular identity than it has to do with independence –which is a hallmark of our community.

If you are seeking a Catholic Church:

· which welcomes all who follow Christ
· where each parish decides its own destiny.
· where property is owned by the parish, not the Diocese
· whose priests can marry and bring the wisdom and grace of the Sacrament of Matrimony to their ministry.
· which regards the Word of God, as revealed in Scripture, as a Sacrament
· which offers general absolution as an integral prelude to the celebration of the Eucharist
· which does not make judgments when it comes to personal choices such as birth control, and which welcomes those who are divorced and/or remarried to share the Eucharist

If you are seeking any or all of these things in a Catholic Church, then join us in celebrating the Living God.

Come and feel the spirit of New England freedom in a small and intimate church in the heart of the nation’s melting pot..... come to Resurrection Parish in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and give praise to Almighty God.
